Thread: Are we a bunch of Sony haters?

But it isn't the most ergonomic. The asymmetric analog sticks of the Xbox S, 360, and GameCube pads feel a lot better. The overly convex shape of the analog sticks is also fairly uncomfortable.

And if you defend the d-pad, you're a tard.

I would like to see the Dual Shock format continue for as long as it works. Simple if it ain't broke theory. You don't mess with success.
Well, I guess its true that if the majority of the public thinks it isn't broken then they shouldn't fix it. Also, in the long run its probably a better design than the N64 and Gamecube controllers. However, I simply prefer the feel of the Xbox 360 and Dreamcast controllers over the Playstation controllers these last few generations. Plus, I've never met anybody in real life who actually likes the D-Pad on Sony's controllers. Would it have hurt them to at least change the D-Pad to the style that every other controller uses?

I already said my piece, but I'm curious, isn't what you just said the internet equivalent, of, going "LAST WORD!!" and then running out of the room?

    But you're calling others tards?

It's better than the 360 and Wii d-pad.

If you want to bitch about Sony and d-pad's, point to the PSP. It pretty much does seven out of the eight things it's supposed to do.

This is a misconception. Nintendo's seal of quality did a ton to insure that there was a certain standard among the games released for the NES, but it had nothing to do with the company's strict and unfair licensing agreements. Telling 3rd parties that if they publish for the NES they can't publish for any other console has nothing to do with the quality of the games they release. If anything, Nintendo stifled competition and kept many games off of more powerful hardware.

It's interesting to note that as soon as Nintendo lost its Nazi licensing agreements, it's market share started a slide from which it's never recovered. Coincidence?

I've read other press releases where analysts say that MS made its forecast of 10 million units sold by the end of 2006, and that this move may put the company in a better position to cut the price depending on moves by Sony and Nintendo. They also say that the games division has increased its revenue by 76%. Truth is, you can spin this any way you want, so it's too early to be giddy.

no. i think the Genesis had something to do with that.

I agree, this is one of the main reasons I never bought a PSP too. I hate the design of the d-pad, the analogue nub, and the shoulder buttons. Although, I don't understand how the Wii and the 360 d-pads are any worse than Sony's, because they more closely resemble the normal cross shaped d-pad.

i never said it did. i said them stiff arming the competition revitalized the industry. people only knew Nintendo and the NES, which at the time made them feel safer about their purchase than buying something in the 2600/5200/colecovision (et cet) era.

I think it had as much to do with marketing. The SMS outsold the NES in some countries even with Nintendo having more third-party games. In North America, Nintendo's marketing was brilliant in the 8-bit era. Sega's didn't get good until the Genesis. Nintendo's fascist policies didn't do the consumer any good but I don't think they were the only factor in the NES' success.

The industry didn't need saving at the time anyway. The C64 was the big gaming system in the mid '80s since the 1982 consoles never took off like the 2600. Being technically a personal computer has lead to its exclusion when discussing gaming history, and the ridiculous notion that gaming was dead. Unlike modern PCs, the only major thing separating a C64 from a console is a case of semantics. Unlike say IBMs, almost everyone bought a C64 for gaming, not other stuff like word processing.

    Truth.

However, one game does not make a system.

Well. Unless your name is Microsoft and that franchise is Halo.

Crash Bandicoot also outsold every franchise on PS1 other than Final Fantasy.
Crash Bandicoot was never a Sony property.
