Thread: Who Here Has Ever Left TNL In Disgust/Boredom/Addiction Control/Etc.?

  1. I'm part of the GameFan/GameGO crowd that washed up over here. TNL is basically my internet hangout, I only post on one other board.

I can't really say the site is worse or better than it has been. It's just different. We've all grown up and changed, which I think the board shows. All of the things that annoy people have always been here, namely the the fads and the trolls. I agree that if a person can't take the initial hazing, they wouldn't survive here anyway. We're a very tight group here and are quick to protect it (re: elitist).

I think the good far outweighs the bad. The PS3 and Wii trolling has been fierce as hell, but I think it's self correcting. Joust has pretty much burned himself out on himself and the dopes who always fall for his bait are now just pushing it aside. And since there are 4 people here with PS3s (which make it less of the PC gamers we have here) there's not much to talk about anyway. In both cases it'll be fine when they get out of the launch slump and get shit that everyone wants to talk about.

TNL will keep going as long as we want it to. It's spread onto XBL as it's the shit to game with others here. It's like you know them already and you're pretty much assured your going to have a good time. TNL eliminates the worst part of XBL.

I've been around for a long time. I've spent time on each part of TNL family tree, going all the way back to the primitive gamefan message board. Shidoshi is probably the only person here that goes farther back than me.

having said that, I really enjoy TNL and it is a major part of my internet experience. Some people are nasty to me, but it's a small price to pay for the people I do like and having conversations with people that can form real opinions. I even like Diff and gozen, despite the great conflict between the three of us because of our personalities. They will never admit it, but I play an important part in helping them construct and share their views. I push them and others to continue when others will stop posting

But I hate stibbons net persona. Some of his comments in this thread personify my reasons for not liking him. I find his "elitist" and "cliché" behavior to be gayer than his voice. I can't fathom why anyone would gleefully create and promote a nerdy online gaming elitist cliché. He is like the fat ugly girls that befriend the pretty popular girl that everyone does like. Really man, why are you such a douche?

I have asked to be banned before. TNL is a big part of my net time, and I have been known for dicking off on the web when I should be doing school work. lol, I guess I'm not as good as organizing my time as others.

I haven't been here much lately because I recently started my job with Peavey and my laptop died. I'd love to have the ability to be back and talk with people like station or mykozo about all the cool stuff that is going on, but shit happens I guess =/

Some of Stibbons' comments in this thread attribute human characteristics to your reasons for not liking him?

  7. i'm a newbie, i've only been around for a few months, but i figured it couldn't hurt to add a newb's perspective to the mix.

tnl is a nice place to hang out. there's a variety of people here with a variety of interests, and it's nice to be able to discuss anime and games and horror movies all in the same forum. if i had a gold account, tnl would be a great place to find people to play on xbl with (but currently i don't have enough free time to justify buying a gold account).

i only post if i have something i really want to say, so i don't post very often. i don't want to go into a thread and be the umpteenth person to say something; if i'm going to post, i want to be adding something. i know when i'm reading through a thread and i just keep seeing people say the same thing over and over, i get bored and i stop reading.

sometimes i'll skip reading entire threads because i get tired of trying to find informative posts amidst the trolling, but for the most part i enjoy hanging around. i like reading about what's new, seeing what people have to say, and i enjoy watching the way a lot of the personalities here interact. i'm a student, so real life gets in the way somtimes, but i hop on tnl pretty regularly to read what's going on and post something if i have anything to say.

You should get a gold account. I don't play my 360 much, but its totally worth it.

  9. I post here because i enjoy it. Sometimes, i don't. I left once because i was internetless.
I miss the days when i felt like there could be intelligent discussion. I was naïve.
    Donk

  10. Started posting semi-regularly towards the end of the GameGo days, somehow ended up there from some sort of GameFan-related tangent. Followed over to TNL from there, staying mostly under the radar.

These days, I mainly use TNL as a "Digg.com" kind of thing. Sound Off usually has something relevant to my interests, with commentary from familiar internet people. And brutal put-downs.

I think I'm basically four years behind on video games at any given moment, at a minimum. Gaming Discussion is like reading the future.

Got banned once. I was really, really mean to the Humvee kid. I think he threw up as a result.
