A tripod??? No sir. I was down right in front of the stage with seats no more than 5 feet behind me and constantly on the move to find the action and best angles. When shooting at ISO 3200, I was getting shutter speeds up to 1/2000th of a second. The lighting this time was near perfect for photographing, as some of the previous shows I had been to I was lucky to get 1/250th of a second when shooting at ISO 3200. When I went down to ISO 1600, I was able to shoot from 1/200th and faster. Seeing as I was using a focal length of 24mm to 70mm, anything above 1/200th of a second was fine for hand holding. The only reason I would have needed to shoot any fast was if the movement was too fast, but hands strumming guitars seemed to turn out just fine, and I don't mind a little motion blur there. There were a few times I had to go back up to ISO 3200, but even then, the noise wasn't too bad.
