Thread: Ghostbusters 3

  1. I understand your perspective, really I do. In a way I think we're both right; the music video editing, hyperactive acting and safe, pedestrian "jokes" are as contemporary as it gets. But the name, iconic theme song and weirdly rehashed characters are only going to hit those 30-somethings in the nostalgic feels, and that's where most of the hype - both positive and otherwise - is coming from. Not everything has to be so binary; there's money in casting as wide a net as possible.

Why would tumblr care about ghost busters? And if they do care, wouldn't they want more of what they care about and not some weird not as good thing? Like, when has anyone that liked source material wanted a shittier version of it? Like, what people under 35 liked the old puppet thunderbirds show, thought the new puppetless thunder birds movie was good?

It feels like someone is trying to sell raisin cookies as chocolate chip, then trying to explain it away that the chocolate chip cookies with no chocolate, and only raisens, are actually for kids.

Crap, this movie cost 154 million to make. That seems like a lot of money for a movie for tumblrites that like to buy ghostbusters merch at hot topic BUT are kind of indifferent about the original movies, games, cartoons, etc and really kinda of sorta want something all their own and different. That seems like a niche within a niche within a niche.

  7. Wow. That's a lot for an all female cast & crew earning 7¢ on the dollar...

No, really. Why does Hollywood keep doing this?

Who was a fan of the original thunderbirds

    and wanted this?

Was it for kids? Why bother? What kids knew what the fuck thunderbirds was?

its like the southpark movie promos have come to life

  9. Funny, I thought you'd be all about IP.

  10. Don't be surprised if this film is either ...

    • an Alternate Reality, cause you guys know most of the original cast are cameo'ing.
    • Taking place within the containment unit. There's a point in the first trailer(not teaser), where the females talk about where the ghosts are coming from.
