I finaly got around to playing the demo of this game. I loved the gameplay, sound, and graphics. It just all works for this game. I'll be picking it up tomarrow.
Yes, that portion of the game was very interesting, gameplay wise, and its what raised my score to about a 9.5. Thus, the only thing I really want to see in a sequel is a better implementation of that type of gameplay. It would have been nice to have segments like that sprinkled throughout the entire game...and Naughty Dog also needs to work on balancing out the shooting and platforming segments of the game, because the Gears of War type segments DO get repetitive from time to time.
It really seemed like this game was 90% Gears of War shooting and only 10% platforming. So the sequel should really strive to be at least 75% shooting and 25% platforming.

A. 10 hours is a common play time for action games. It is not short by any rational measure.
B. The reward system is cool and you will most likely want to play through again to unlock everything.
C. This game is very good.
D. People that make very good games deserve your money, assuming you want more very good games to keep coming. If you just rent gems like this, you are part of the problem.
also play on hard difficulty,
then play on crushing.

Does the reward system have to do with home, or does it open up more options during a replay?
Yes, the game is solid; It defineatly deserves to be in the top 20 games of 2007.C. This game is very good.

Its like achievements, but the points unlock things like alternate player models, filters, weapons, videos, galleries, etc. As dumb as it sounds, the mirrored mode really feels like whole new levels much of the time. They are accessed from the pause menu, and many of them can be turned on as soon as you earn them, even if it is your first playthrough.
I wish the PS3 had a standardized achievement system, but getting actual things sure beats just adding to your gamerscore. I think we get this because of the lack of a standardized system. 360 developers are probably just content to fall back on the gamerpoints thing instead of thinking of something like this.
Shouldn't those extras be available, once you've completed the game anyways? Call of Duty 4 extended the playability of the single player mode, by rewarding gamers with an arcade mode.
As trivial as achievement points may seem, it's a big selling point for buying the 360 version of a game, over that of the PS3 version. It's really the equivalent to being the top dog on an arcade scoreboard.
Some are, the more you find the more extras you get.

Its not a coincidence that now 3 high profile ps3 games are carrying Achievements, and their own leaderboards as well, theyre going to sync with home.
