    Or an "MVP"

  2. TBH, 2K's sports sales are pleasantly surprising. Maybe next year when the 360 and PS3 base is bigger, NBA 2K could pass NBA Live. The tides are turning. It's great to see GRAW so high. And Gears raked in a TON of cash. It also has legs. 5 million sales WW lifetime would be nice for a first run.

Thing is, the 'Live brand name has a significantly longer legacy, is much more attractive to the casual gamer/hoops fan, trounces the 2K series in terms of its advertising heft, and now, it even has its own ESPN series ala the Madden Challenge.

I don't think 2K will be catching it--much less surpassing it--in sales for several more years, if ever.

  4. Yeah but if you would have tole me that Live would only outsell 2K 2:1 a few years ago, I'd laugh at you. So it's all about perspective.

  5. I knew Madden would be #1, but I didn't realize it would sell 2.5 times as many copies as its closest competitor. Got that's retarded.

Just goes to prove that AFX and Stibbons are the best viral marketing bad asses on the planet.

Nah. Among the general schmoe population maybe, but among people who buy these things every year, on the NBA forums around the web and various sports game sites, it's become gospel that 2K is the better bball game.

I think part of the problem is that 2K's distribution sucks ass; specialty stores carry it, but lots of other places only have Live. Even places like Compucenter don't carry it (at least up here). Same with an awful lot of music & department stores.
