    Those aren't by SNK.

  2. Rival Schools 2 is mostly 3d, but has 2d cut scenes, yet all of it has plenty of personality. Sakura Taisen series is mostly 2d with the occasional 3d and has more personality than any game has the right to. Both are hardly ancient.

I'd also say the DOA series succeeds over all the other 3d fighters out there, but I know many people have a blind hatred of the series. Tina has a similar personality to B Jenet, but Tina's is actually developed somewhat. B Jenet was a very shallow character.

Basically, in the matter of personality, I don't think things have changed at all. There were plenty of lifeless 2D games too.

  4. in all fairness to 3d, Panzer had a shit load of personality and atmosphere (dont know if those are seperate categories) not to mention more recent games like DMC and Onimusha.

Nintendo still pulls off character with 3d, might have something to do with the usage of colors. thanks. bye.

  5. Based on what ive read thus far, I take it no one here has played Bloody Roar on the GC?

Uriko, Buzusima, and Cronos all have cool character and personality. Uriko especially (something wrong that girl ).

  6. I've played Bloody (not bloody at all) Roar and it's got good personality, but I found the game seriously lacking in any sort of challange, which made it a little hard to warm up to. I liked the characters though, I wish it came with a better fighting system and a decent AI to play against.

  7. Yes, Bloody Roar 3 on PS2 and Cube, got some very nice character designs and nice personalities. They done in 3d, but look and feel great and unique, both in human and beast forms.

Say what you want Mech, but Dante got a cool personality, and not only in the cut scenes. And ask Zidane about Snake personality in MGS and MGS2

  8. I just thought of something... Power Stone.

How can you not love Pete and the gourmand guy (the chef)?

Eh, to each their own. Maybe if Dante spoke to help balance out his regular walking, running and standing like a videogame model it'd be better, but he's very generic in-game. They could have almost any skin on that model, even Vash Stampede or anyone with a trenchcoat, and it wouldn't have changed a thing.

I'd rather not ask Zidane about Snake's personality. If it wasn't for the amount of cutscenes in MGS and MGS2, he also doesn't have too much of one earlier on. His sprites aren't exactly specific to him personally in the first two games, and his later models don't really have animation that make you see it and would say, "That's definately Snake," as opposed to any other military operative (of course, that's kind of the point).
