So wait, the deal is like, they're one company now but keeping their shit mostly separate? So if you sign up as a new subscriber they ask you: "Would you like the Sirius package or the XM package?" and then if you want to pay super double bonus fees you can get the TOTAL package? That's beyond gay. That's into furry territory.
No, the packages are going to be like cable packages where more expensive ones get you more channels.
Which is gay in its own right. But what you're talking about wouldn't work because there's not enough bandwidth on the satellites for all the programming from both services.
You guys are suckers.
<shrug> whatever I don't use this shit.
I'm surprised there isn't enough bandwidth
Right now the radios operate on two different satellite technologies, so this is a quick way to get content from both services on each system. Down the line I imagine they'll eliminate redundant channels and consolidate into one service but that will take time.
I'm cool paying $4/month extra for MLB during the season. They're also offering packages that cost less, one that is mostly music and one that is sports and talk oriented. But if you want all of Sirius plus exclusive XM content and vice-versa it's going to cost extra.
Cheaper than if you were going to have dual subscriptions to both services prior to the merger, though.
The interview with Mel was encouraging.
