Thread: Sirius and XM to Merge

  1. What a slow, horrible death.

Yeah, I'll be going from two radios to just one. This little scheme of theirs seems to be backfiring terribly.

I really hope the company manages to stay afloat, though. Aside from Stern/O&A, I dig a lot of the music channels. The cost/entertainment ratio beats the shit out of cable.

  3. The internet has all the music I need.

    I have an ipod.

  5. I have an Ipod with daily Howard Stern on it.
I buy Sirius for my mom though, who listens to Howard and isn't down with the internets.

I dropped my subscription last month. With Pandora/Slacker on my iPhone + Podcasts and MP3's, I really couldn't justify the $15/month anymore. News I can get from local stations and Stern can be found other ways.
I dropped my sub back when they suspended O&A and I haven't re-upped since.

Let's face it, both of these companies fucked themselves over the day they announced the merger. They haven't had one major signing or released a single piece of new hardware since. The war between them used to be exciting, but they gave up thinking the merger would save them, and by the time it went through, it was too late.

  7. They signed Mad Dog Chris Russo a couple months ago, that was a huge signing.

  8. There's a Public Radio app for the iPhone now too that lets you stream NPR stations from all over the country. These apps are just going to keep chipping away at the options available through Sirius.

Yes they have. I canceled my Inno because that thing kinda sucks anyways. I have SXM in my truck and don't imagine dropping that while it's still around. That said, I don't think I've listened to it in a month or two while driving by myself.

  10. The combo SIRI/XM unit was shown at CES.
