    Why do you think so?

PoR is a terrible hack job of a game.

And these clone sprites don't even make sense in environmental context. Example: remember how the frozen underwater caverns of SotN had those frost women enemies? In PoR, those same sprites are just hanging out in libraries at room temperature. That screams of lazyness.

And what's worse, Jonathan's sprite is a slight sprite edit of DoS Soma's; which was a slight edit of SotN's alucard; and they all run the same awkward way.

I felt robbed for paying $35 for what was literally bits and pieces of better Castlevania games I already played (except DoS, because that's just as guilty as PoR). The level design was boring too (just like every post-SotN CV), and I only went full price for the preorder bonus.

And what totally appalls me is that IGA is revered for this SHIT that he shovels out every year. He's even got an upcoming keynote at GDC discussing 2D gaming. THAT MAN DIDN'T EVEN DIRECT SOTN. He joined as assistant director to Toru Hagihara late in the project and was only involved in minor tweaking.

He did do Nanobreaker though :lol

    IGA sucks.

    That's my justification. What's yours?

  2. thread title alone had me hoping for a new Rolling Thunder game. entering the thread has disappointed me.

  3. I liked PoR for the difficulty. It wasn't a complete cake-walk like 95% of the other CVanias. The locales were more varied. I liked the Portrait idea. I liked the fact that it was linear and didnt try to hide the fact, unlike the other Metroidvanias. I really liked the music as well. Obviously not as good as Symphony or the PS2 music, but still , c'mon, Koshiro was in there.

Half of your justification isn't even about the game. You're wrong about Jonathan's sprite being recycled, too. It's not even the same size. And whether or not the actual sprites themselves were recycled, every CV game after the first has primarily reused the same enemy types.

  5. This is awesome news. I like the TF series but can no longer play pre-32 bit era shooters so TFV is as far back as I'll go.

As a sprite artist, I laugh at you and that statement out loud.

Anyway, PoR is one of the top CS games. If you think otherwise, you're just fooling yourself. Everyone else already has come to this conclusion.

  8. I hate to say it, but that really looks like shit. I hope this is some delayed April Fools shit

  9. Not bad, even if it does look a little doujin. Given that the game is still in development, I am sure the graphics will be kicked up a notch in the final product.

I wish there were a few more enemies and/or bullets in the gameplay pics.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)

  10. "Levin," eh?

I can already hear the bad guys kvetching in their boots.
