Why is the playfield so huge? I can barely make out the player ship. Hopefully that means the game will have its share of screen-clearing bosses?
Otherwise, I see a lot of promise for a homebrew project. I remember the initial screens released for Gradius V looked about as bland as these.
Hopefully this game is inspired more by TFIII and IV than TFV.. don't really care for the latter as a TF game, although it's a decent hori shooter.

No mention on calling this "Brokeback Thunder" yet? I'm disappointed.

This is my main problem right now, they really need to readjust the size of the ship relative to playfield. Also:
-Score/power-up bar is too large, I really hope you can't fly into that area.
-The past few games have been a bit neutral in character art (OK the last game had a albino) but the rosy-cheeked anime deigns here don't fit too well.
I would also welcome a return to the maze choked levels of TF4 and less barren landscapes but we'll see. So far it's a homebrew homage to one of the greatest shooters ever, I'll take it for that. *-neo
That was one of the things I missed in TF5. There weren't too many obstacles in the backgrounds. Some parts were too easy, like the vertical scrolling section where the snakes come out from the right and stupidly fly into your Wave Shot.
TF4's stage 8 is one of the best in the game, and the vertical scrolling is put to good use here to allow you to choose your route. TF5 felt like a step back in gameplay, even if it added a Raiden III style "quick shot" multiplier.
I'd like to see the devs take a slightly altered approach to the mothership battle, like blowing a hole in the outside and then going into it similar to Last Resort's Stage 5 to tear it up from the inside out.
Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)
Aw, man. This looks like crap!
I guess I'll just pull Thunder Force IV off of the shelf to satisfy my nostalgia.
Currently playing: Binary Domain (PC), EVE Online: Retribution (PC), Guild Wars 2 (PC)
Bump. This is out tomorrow. Anyone going to import?

I look forward to your impressions. I'm not getting a great feeling from it, like I said earlier, but still hoping it plays well.
I like how that first boss requires next to no dodging.
More boring enemy patterns.
This game looks awful. I'm glad I didn't pre-order it.
