Thread: Wavebird - Best Controller EVAR!!!

  1. Nothing but a thumbs up from me. Quality hardware.

Sidenote: Bought it at gamestop, where a "casual gamer" (his words) came in and asked one of they guys if it would be worth it to trade in his Ps2 ("I only have sports games") for a Xbox and Halo ("played it at a friends house and its awesome").

The GS guy handled it okay...said some untrue things about the box, vague on other things, but basicly said stick with your PS2 and told him about Medal of Honor Frontline and SOCOM. I wanted to but in, but I kept my mouth shut and left. I hate that place. It's like buying games out of someones basement.

  2. Nintendo did something really right in the peripheral department. I'm in love with mine, and as someone with dogs, it's really a blessing. I was amazed at the range on the thing and the fact that it still felt like a GC controller, not bulky in the least. I can't recommend it enough. It's a steal at 35 bucks.

88mph, do you guys have any of them?
Yeah, there is one hiding in the back somewhere.

Yes, but it was made by Sony. (no joke) However, I've never had a Nintendo-brand cordless phone crap out on me...

By the way, is this thing really out yet? My local Target and Best Buy stores don't have them yet, let alone have any idea what they are. "Wavebird? What's that? Never heard of it." Moreover, my Best Buy STILL has a problem stocking GCN hardware-- last night I noticed they were selling rain checks!

I work at Best Buy and I had to practically smack the guy to get him to go look for the Bird. He found it though, so Best Buy stores do have it, you might just have to talk a little more slowly next time.

  6. Best Buy employees are very rarely educated on these sort of things.

In their defence, they do have to worry about a whole lot more than just games. Music, computers, VCRs, DVDs, CDs, car stereos, etc.

What I think the real shame is is the uneducated (in the way of games) employees at my local EB. And games are all they have to worry about! It's really frustrating sometimes. EB employee: "You want that game?! What the Hell for? I thought it was for kids. *snigger* *snort*"

And the sad part is is that I know them all on a personal level. And they know me, and know what kind of gamer I am, and know that I like all kinds of games. And on top of that, every time I go in there to buy something they do the whole "nope, we can't sell that to you" joke which eats up a good 10 mins of my time because the stupid screw-heads don't know when to freaking quit!

    Phew!

  8. i don't know... i really have no problems with wired controllers (unless they're too short...), and i think i'd rather have the connector things that the XBox controllers have than pay for batteries...

  9. The batteries last like, 100 hours, so it won't be much of a problem.

The ONLY downside to the Wavebird is the lack of rumble, so that's why I keep my old controllers.

The only reason I keep a single one of my old controllers is because the WaveBird doesn't come in orange (or "Spice" if you like), and my girlie loves orange. So, I keep her orange controller for her.

But I'm all about good'ol Nintendo Grey.
