exactly what i said before the "official" announcement and kind of touched on in the news forum. if MS now has a $500 sku that has the same failure rate, can this affect their image? with all things being equal to the casual gamer (remember folks, THEY drive the industry, not US) as far as software is concerned (besides maybe 2 MUST haves per system) and performance, i could see most going with the more well trusted SONY brand. we don't hear much of PS3's breaking, but that could do with having only a portion of systems out compared to the 360 usrbase. this will make things interesting.
Fuck them. I'm sleeping through this one.
Hopefully MS knows how important it is for this system to be succesfull. The 360 is selling well, but not nearly as well as it should with all the games and features it has. If this system has the same death ratio than that is going to be it for a lot of people.
Although $480 is still a lot of bones to be throwing down for a console, it isn't an awful deal. The only real ripoff is the HDD. But for an extra $80, you are getting a HDD that is 6 times larger, HDMI output as well as an HDMI cable (which depending where you get it and the quality could run anywhere from $30-$80), black headset, and black wireless controller.
