The Elite just points out how overpriced the premium is currently. 100 extra gigs and HDMI for $80. On the other hand, it also points out how freakin overpriced the HDD is. I want to get a 120gb, but I'm not paying more than twice what it costs at retail.
This is the same, shitty Microsoft that forced their little chips into every accessory to make sure that third parties could be undercut by their own shit. The result of that has been exactly one arcade stick and everything being overpriced. I am starting to believe that's the real Xbox division at MS, not the one that made a few good moves last year.
Furthermore: I'm not defending it, nor am I buying it, just setting it straight.
How good does 1080p look on the 360? i heard it's not as good as PS3 1080p since on the 360 it's basically upconverting a 720p single, where as on the PS3 all games are made with 1080p in mind.
my bravia doesnt accept 1080p over component, so i was thinking of getting the Elite just for the HDMI port.....but deep down inside i don't think it's worth it.
thoughts?
i thought the 360 HDD was a "laptop variant". laptop HDD are all 5400rpm for the most part (unless you want to spend big bucks).
says wiki.

The Premium configuration of the system comes with an external hard drive and it is optional to separately purchase one for the Core. The detachable 20 GB hard drive is not required for standard games. The 2.5" hard drive is connected through a SATA interface and spins at 5400 rpm. The new SKU of the Xbox 360 (The Elite) has been announced along with a new 120GB HDD sold either packaged with the Elite version in a black case or sold separately in a white case to match the older models. The 120 HDD will retail for approximately $179.99
