    K-Dramas

yesasia.com is having a sale on all their English subtitled K-Dramas until March 31st. I've never watched any, but I've been curious. Has anyone watched any series before? What's good? My usual tastes for this type of stuff are: high school soap opera and quirky romantic comedy. Any suggestions?

    Here's the sale stuff.

My Lovely Sam-Soon sounds good, it's still kind of expensive though.

Ruler Of Your Own World sounds pretty good too.

This can be moved to Max Anime if the powers that be feel like doing so.

  2. These are the ones I've seen, and I can only recommend these:

Bright Girl's Success Story I guess this is one of those quirky romantic comedy type dramas. Stars Jang Nara who's pretty popular in Asia. Pretty good. It was the first kdrama I've seen her in.

Snow White/Taste Sweet Love Probably my favorite romantic k-drama/comedy. The soundtrack is awesome and catchy, Kim Jung Hwa is fucking hot and cute. Really quirky, fun and addictive series.

My Lovely Sam-Soon This has probably been the most popular k-drama in the past couple of years. I thought it was good, not great.

Winter Sonata This and Stairway to Heaven are probably the two most famous K-drama in Asia. Choi Ji Woo, the main actress is also the main actress in Stairway to Heaven. Tear-jerker drama.

Stairway to Heaven Tear-jerker x100, watch this with your SO, its like crack, seriously.

Phoenix This is a bit more serious. My favorite Korean actress, Lee Eun Joo (Taeguki, Bungie Jumping on Their Own, Lover's Concerto, Scarlett Letter) was the main actress in this series. It would be her last tv drama because she committed suicide roughly a year later.

Attic Cat Haven't seen this one but heard its a classic. The main actress in this, Jung Da Bin, committed suicide about a month ago. I'm definitely planning on watching this series in the next couple of days or so.

All the titles I listed are addicting stuff. Stairway to Heaven being the most addictive.

I recommend you download an episode or two of Snow White/Taste Sweet Love and give it a try, I don't think yesasia carries the DVD yet.

Stairway to Heaven is a must-purchase.

  3. I'm almost glad that J-drama typically doesn't have English subtitles on the DVD releases, or else I'd be totally broke.

I thought this looked pretty cute too. But I don't think I could watch knowing the actress killed herself recently. I'm still getting over Leslie Cheung killing himself a few years ago.

The only Korean flick I remember seeing is "Please Teach Me English"

    It was pretty good.
