Thread: Hellboy 2

  1. I am so bored with Danny Elfman's shitty soundtracks. They all sound exactly the same. I wish he'd just go the fuck away.

Yeah, I mean....what was wrong with the first guy?

I liked the first Hellboy as well, I'm still trying to track down the first few trades though. I didn't even know they changed Kronen but I did notice a lack of dude with cool armor and blades when skimming through Seed of Destruction.

  3. I loved Ron Perlman as Hellboy, although the movie never really got above "good" in my mind. I'm still excited to hear he's coming back, and I'll see the movie just to see him beat people with a stone fist again.

The movie was my first run-in with Hellboy and I loved it. Top 5 comic book movies IMO.

After reading some of the TPBs, I really like that, too.

Cool, dark comic. It's just different than the mainstream movie. Really looking fwd to the sequel (and glad to hear del Toro's still on board).

One change I did love, however, was Kronen, that awesome undead Nazi clockwork ninja dude. In the comic he was just some wimpy scientist.
Yeah, you didn't really get that sense of mysticism that you do in the comics. Its seemed as though he took pieces of some of the books and just threw them all together. Conquerer Worm being one of them. I really liked what he did with Kronen too. But all in all if he based the movie off of Seed of Destruction than it would have been 100x better.

  6. I am huge Hellboy fan, and while movie was a bit different from the way comics were, i enjoyed the hell of it. lol

I even liked the animated Sword of Storms as well.

    Quite excited about the sequel.

In the comics Kronen looked pretty much the same as he does in the movie, but instead if being a ninja/cyborg/zombie/whatever he was just some timid, wimpy scientist. There's a part in the comic where he actually kills someone and almost gets sick to his stomach afterwards. Quite a difference, huh?

  8. Hellboy was ok. I'm not excited for Hellboy 2. Which is actually a good thing. Movies nowadays need to have little to no expectations. If we have them we're usually setup for a letdown.

I hate to say it, but you're right. They don't make 'em like they used to. Back when they couldn't throw 190 million into photo-realistic computer effects to blind audiences, they used to have to concentrate on things like interesting stories and engaging characters. But you eventually get numb to all the pretty shit flying around on-screen after a while, and then reality starts to sink in.

  10. I was never in your camp, Dole. I liked the CGI, but they use it in everything now. Oh look we have to have him walk on Park Ave, in NYC, But we can't afford to actually film the location. So let's CG that here. We can't afford him to pick up a cup of coffee, cause he hates coffee; yet loves Tea. So lets CG the waitress pouring coffee and make it tea colored!

It's too much. And you right, Dole. Back when Commando was cheesy, it was action and it was real. As far as the guys flying in the air were stuntman, not CGI'd green screen guys.
