AFAIK the recent DVDs are a re-release of the "Special Edition" movies that he managed to ruin back in the late 90s. This time he's fucked them even more with changes that never should have been made. See here.

That was the first DVD release and the second was the unaltered ones, though as Johnpv pointed out the transfer on them is supposedly terrible as it's a straight shot of the LD version. If you're really needy about it some fans took the SE DVDs, removed all the extra stuff that was added in, and spliced in scenes from the LD to replace the ones that were irrevocably changed. Those can be found somewhere around the net.

I lost my love of SW after seeing Episode 1, and not even RotS could bring it back. I can no longer stand to look at anything but the original trilogy (which I watch maybe once a year), and after being a massive fan since age 4, my love for it is all but dead. Lord of the Rings owns it as the new trilogy for the ages, imo.

Fuck Star Wars.
