  1. Speaking of Mark Cuban, I think the Cubs fans have suffered enough. Lets spare them that disaster.

Which just goes to show how awful he's been with the Yankees (his pre-2004 ALCS postseason OPS was over 1.000). In A-Rod's last 60 postseason at-bats (all of his at-bats since the start of the 2004 ALCS) he has 11 hits (8 from the first 3 games of the 2004 ALCS), 2 homers (both in the first 3 games of the 2004 ALCS), 5 RBI (all in the 2004 ALCS), a .170 batting average, and a .680 OPS.

You want to say 13, fine, either way, it's fucking dumb.

  4. I just gave you 16. He's only appeared in 35 postseason games his entire career, half with the Yankees. I agree it's stupid to crucify him when other players were just as bad over the same stretch (Sheffield for example) and I've never been one to boo him. My point is that you can't write all over your contract that you need to always be the highest paid player in baseball every year and hit .170 in the playoffs for 3 years on a team that judges everything by October performance then get all bent out of shape when you get booed.

is fucking ignorant of the concept of small sample size

You could make a case that October performance is the whole population. Out of a population of 35, a sample of 35 is significant. Whether you buy that or not, I'd never, ever sign a free agent who had miserable post season performance.

  7. I think the Cubs' trade for Jason Kendall was a good move for them. Kendall doesn't hit much, but he's a tough player who knows how to call games. He'll be an asset right away.

  8. Kendall is possibly the worst every day player in the major leagues.

I'd nominate JD Drew, but as about a third of his all-too-few hits result in injuries, I supposed he doesn't qualify as an "every day player."

Seriously, are you high? Kendall is having an awful season, but his career average is still at about .300 in spite of it. He's also an outstanding defensive catcher.

  10. He'll be lucky if he even sluggs .300 this year. Old catchers get worse, not better. What he hit back in Pittsburgh has little bearing on what he'll do from here on.
