At least he was good then. He sucks as a manager.
Charlie Manuel isn't as bad of a manager as most Philadelphia fans want to believe he is but I know that you had him in Cleveland. He wasn't so great when he first took over here but he's really improved and I think he's been a big part of the team unity that they have now.
The players like him, they play well under him and he's done a good job of managing a terrible bullpen. I don't think he's the best manager in baseball but he's been near the top in "Manager of the Year" voting since he took the Phils over. He's better then Larry Bowa and Francona.
I still don't understand making Brett Myers a closer...
I wasn't too sure about it either but I think it was the right move now. Despite being a good starter, a team with that offensive production is more in need of a good bullpen then a good starting rotation. As long as their starters aren't giving up 5-6 runs everytime they go out, the Phillies are still in a good position to get the win, but later in the game it gets harder for teams to score runs. I sometimes wish Myers was still in the rotation but I valued him coming out to close games more then I did him starting games.
