It's always odd when you can say this about a game that's two months old, but it has a lot of promise. It's just not quite there yet.

I'm assuming by upgrade you mean subscribing. The first major content push, including Stonehenge, is imminent, so that might justify it.

Oblivion is almost two years-old. This is a DirectX 10 game. Is that really surprising?

He hasn't patched anything yet, do the patches affect how the game runs at all, or just gameplay shit?

I forgot how much I hate pc gaming.
When you go online, it patches automatically. I couldn't tell you for sure if a patch helped the framerate, as I upgraded video cards once as well.

I hate having control and options over my experience instead of being stuck with the lowest common denominator too.

If I had unlimited funds, maybed I'd think differently. PC gaming continues to be a bunch of bullshit. Don't even start telling me how cheap it is to upgrade. If what was high-end two years ago costs 4-600 to upgrade every two years, I don't want to hear it. The best part is a game that runs Hellgate perfectly probably still can't run Crysis decently on maxed settings. Seriously, I don't want to hold you people with money back, but this thing ought to scale much better than it does. It's a fucking dungeon crawler for christ's sake, and honestly plays like World of Warcraft more than anything else I've played recently.

The only thing that makes the game chug now is tons of enemies onscreen at once, and even then usually only if it's two floors rendering at once, like when you're on a catwalk. I'm pretty surprised at how...not scalable this is. We're well over the min requirements, too.

The game at full settings is really pretty but..honestly, not significantly better looking than Oblivion, it's just all the enemies it has to manage onscreen at once that causes problems, I suppose.

It's a pretty neat dungeon crawler but I think I prefer the isometric view. To their credit, the enemies have done some pretty interesting things thus far.

From what I understand, Hellgate requires a lot of RAM. Like, 2 gigs minimum. And it's one of those rare games where >2 gigs makes a big difference.

That's reasonable, I do think my bro needs a ram upgrade actually, think he's 1.5 gigs at the moment.

I don't really care too much, I'm throwing this on the list of games I must play once I get a new comp, which will be, you know, someday. Ran a character to level 10 tonight in singleplayer and I'm pretty much done with it for now. honestly it just made me want to play the diablos.

I doubt anybody on TNL spends $400-600 on their PC every two years. I've rebuilt once since 2003. The grand total despite intentionally overspending to skimp and then upgrade the video card was $1,050. I've also bought $1,980 worth of console and portable hardware, not including accessories in that time.

taking trade-in credit into account I've only spent 450 on console hardware since the wii launch.

That's one year, and you probably bought a neutered PC.

I haven't spent a dime on my pc since 2000.

Actually, that's not true, I bought a second internal hard drive in 2003. And I'm not spending any more money on console hardware until the next gen.

You know, if I didn't get a new ipod in September (my old mp3 player having broken) I'd probably have a new pc by now.

This is super easy when you get a legendary rifle drop at level 2 that does 100 damage.
