In the last year there have been Tetris releases on cell phones (both American and Japanese networks), the iPod, Blackberries, the Nintendo DS, PS2 (a re-release of the original Sega Tetris from 1988), an arcade release, and two games on the Xbox 360. So the series is very much alive.

The biggest change to the series was in 1997 (standard), when the Tetris Company formed and started standardizing future games, ultimately leading up to the company's Tetris Guideline.
