Thread: Sonic Rush Adventure (DS)

Rivals is total shit. You can literally do nothing but hold right, and you'll still win the race. Worst Christmas gift ever.

  2. Out today. Anyone else get it?

It addresses a lot of my issues with Rush (more visually appealing levels, better enemy designs, more fitting music) and keeps most of what was good. The story is gay, but skippable. Level design is still pretty good, if maybe too easy so far. I'm happy thus far.

  3. The non-platforming segments are probably the most enjoyable non-platforming segments I've seen in a Sonic game thus far. That said, this doesn't really say much and they're just enjoyable diversions, but at least the filler is entertaining rather than everything else with Adventure attatched to it (this also includes Heroes, Shadow and StH).

Regarding the actual game, I miss Rush's music (it definitely divided people, but it gave the game a unique personality that Sonic hasn't had in ages) but the level designs are almost uniformly better and the bosses kick Rush's ass. It's at least on par with Rush overall, and I'd put it a bit higher personally.

  4. The music not being as good as Sonic Rush's is a huge downer for me on this sequel, as that was probably my favorite thing about it. Nice to hear the initial two reactions being positive overall, though.

  5. The music in Sonic Rush was very polarizing. It was good, but it was out of place. The music in Rush Adventure is more of a compromise between Naganuma's style and more classic sonic pop sesibilities. It's decent but kinda just there some of the time.

I don't really think it was out of place. I mean, the music has become one of the identifying things about Rush... it's part of what makes the game at this point. A Sonic game hasn't been so clearly defined by its music since 2, which makes it a success in my book.

And yeah, it's different from old Sonic, but so is the game in general. It fits in that respect as well.

Normally, if I don't like game music, I can still see why others do but not with Sonic Rush. It's noise and would be bad in any game context.

And I think it's one of Sega's best soundtracks. Polarizing indeed.

  9. YOU NIGGAS ARE LIKE NORTH AND SOUTH.

  10. I don't even mind the music, but the Jet Grind Sonic vibe wasn't working for me. I didn't like the visual style of Rush either (this one looks a million times better just for better levels and enemy designs)
