Thread: Sega revitalizing the classics...

  1. Sega revitalizing the classics...

i was just thinking how nice it is to see that sega has been finally bringing back some of it's classic fanchises (ie shinobi, toe jam & earl, panzer, and the like)...which got me thinking about other series that i would like to see SEGA bring back or reinvent...

    My Choices...(no particular order)
    1. Nights (with a 3D person view-point)
    2. Phantasy Star (single player RPG- NUFF SAID)
3 and 4. Space Harrier or Burning Rangers (Gun Valk style)
    5. Eternal Champions (published by Sega, not sure if they own the rights though)
    6. Shining Force (why not? the name would sell it alone...)
    7. Altered Beast (an adventure style game, maybe majora's mask style)
    8. Comix Zone (i'd give a 3d cell shaded side-scroller a whirl...)
    9. Alex Kidd (Who cares if he was a lame mascot, there are enough sega fanboys out there that would eat this one up!)
    10. Panzer Saga (one can dream, can't he?)

  2. I missed the chance to play the masterpiece that is Panzer Saga since it was sold out when i finally got my saturn, but I'd love to see another Nights and another Shining Force.

  3. I'd like to see another Shining RPG, which are as good, if not better, than the Force spin-offs. And a Ristar sequel would be interesting, in 2D or 3D. It would just be really interesting to see what they would do with it. Lastly, an Oasis sequel could just kick ass in 3D.

    And Streets of Rage!

What about Planet Harriers? I think we just need a console port of that, it'd make me damned happy, that's for sure. Anyone know which Sega team made PH, it'd help figure out which system it'd be most likely for.

  5. Deja vu again! Anyway, I personally hope that somebody will pick-up the rights for the PS2 remake of Panic. A home version of Planet Harriers wouldn't be bad either.

Planet Harriers (made by Amusement Vision, by the way) definately needs to see a console release. I've spent enough money on it in arcades to warrant a console release, I'd be first in lnie for it if it came out on GC or the like.

I couldn't stand Shining Force III, so I don't know if I'd be excited about a new Shining game or not, but I'd still be sure to give it a try if it came out, regardless.

The first Comix Zone was pretty dull, they'd need to do something radically different with a new one, just keep the whole "comic" art style concept. (Complete with Morbus drawing new enemies for you to fight. )

A new NiGHTS game is something I'd eat up, even if they just revived the concept of Air NiGHTS. Until then, the GBA one compliments of PSO will do nicely.

What I want to know is where's my console port of Virtual On: 4Force?

I want a next gen Sonic game that lets you actually play as Sonic for longer than it takes to piss.

Yes! Sega is actually releasing a PS2 remake of that very same game in Japan.
