If that's your bag, then knock yourself out, but I don't see the appeal.
MUGEN's such a weak comparison, as MUGEN in itself is the engine. Who you downloaded, and bitched about has nothing to do with it.

Fuck that son, I want some Yie Ar Kung Fu!

  2. Yie Ar Kung Fu fucking rocks in the arcade.

  3. I would make a comment about how Guilty Gear ruined 2D fighting games, but it isn't like I would have played these fangames anyway.

The Nazi/WWII themed one looks like it plays like the better of the two. I'm sensing some SNK influence.

    True.

  5. So, like... has anyone gotten this thing working?

  6. They look interesting, I'll give these a shot tonight.

What would that even mean? SF has a shitton of clones, MK has a shitton of clones, GG has a shitton of clones; every major 2D fighting game "ruins" their genre at the time.

  7. I don't think the Guilty Gear influence in this game is overwhelming. It's got a little SNK and Marvel vs Capcom to it as well.

So, I got this working. I had to go into the Windows Control Panel Region options and change Non-Unicode programs to default to Japanese, and now it works. Yeah, I'm stupid for not doing that to begin with.

This evidently is just a demo, so I don't feel bad for torrenting it. It's just two characters. Seems like a class act though. I'm really impressed.

  8. This is way promising. Looking forward to spending much more time with this. Akatsuki Blitzkampf not so much, but I also just tried it, and plan to give it more of a shot. Big Bang Beat looks to be hell of a lot of fun, though.

  9. Big Bang Beat's pretty good but I don't really like having a charge bar which limits the amount of moves you can make, it seems unneccesarily restrictive. Other than that it's definitely something I want to see the full version of.

The other one seems competent enough but isn't my kind of thing. It has that akward, rigid SNK look to the art, each character only has a couple moves and most of those are pretty blah, I don't like the way it flows, etc. The nun is cool but that's about it.

It looked just like Guilty Gear in the video, which means I'm not interested in the least.
