Thread: Project Rygar

  1. Project Rygar

    From GamesAreFun.com:
-The Rygar series is headed back to its roots on a Nintendo system. The game will be a brand new title that's exclusive to the Wii. A brand new hero and brand new enemies will make their debut in what Tecmo is calling Project Rygar.

And so the parade of second rate franchises to shitty but cheap to support hardware continues.

  3. I liked the PS2 Rygar, and if this plays anything like it, I'll pick it up.

It's not like there's really any other good 3rd party games on the Wii to buy.

Is the PS2 "Rygar" a better game than Shinobi?

I've had the game sitting on my shelf(shrinkwrap and all) and I've been leaning towards either selling it, or playing it.

  5. Rygar > Shinobi, at least to me. The PS2 Shinobi was so unShinobi-like, imo. They're both worth picking up, since each should cost you less than $10, but if I had to choose, Rygar would win out.

One is a pure action game based on doing perfect runs and the other is an action/adventure game with a good amount of exploration, so maybe, depending on your genre preference. I loved Shinobi and thought Rygar was decent, but whatever.

    As opposed to...?

Unwrappiing a game that I might not enjoy anyway. I'm better off leaving it sealed (bought it on the cheap) and selling it for more than I'd get for the game if it was opened.

I got really bored of Rygar about 1/2 way through. Shinobi? 3rd level in.

So Rygar > Shinobi but there are far better games you should play first (God of War 1/2, Ninja Gaiden, etc) before you even bother with 2nd tier games.

The first Rygar is one of my favorite games on PS2. If this is done in the same vein as that I'm fucking all over it. I've been begging for a Rygar sequel for ages so this is some pretty damn good news to me, I could care less what platform it comes out on as long as I'm getting a Rygar sequel.

For me Rygar was the better game, I just had a lot more fun with it. Shinobi isn't a bad game, it just gets more frustrating than enjoyable towards the end.
    Where I play

I played about 3 levels of Shinobi as well, and found the level design to be rather bland.

I have GOW and Devil May Cry, but I've yet to play the highly praised Ninja Gaiden.
