Thread: 28 Weeks Later Official

  1. I thought 28 Weeks was highly meh.

The ridiculously shaky camera made certain parts unwatchable - there was nothing on the screen but blurs. I think that's just sloppy directing. It's not edgy or avant garde - it just sucks.

The action bits were well-staged, and Robert Carlyle did his thing, but overall Weeks was basically a thin remake of Days without any of that film's tension or interesting subtext and characters.

The military did everything they could to ensure a second breakout. Way to go, guys.

I thought the whole bit about the natural immunity was pretty silly. Seemed like it existed only to get the virus inside the compound. It also goes against what I think Days was trying to say about human nature, but that's another issue.

The helicopter blade part was kind of cool, but totally cartoony, and didn't fit with the realism of the rest of the film. The audience at my theater laughed at it.

So Andy ends up infecting France? I guess the world is doomed for sure.

The filmmakers had a nice opportunity to expand on Days' premise, but didn't have the guts to take the leap.

you thought the 2nd half dragged? (i thought that while the whole movie drags the first half is a bit more "damn i hate sitting thru this again" than the 2nd half).

been a bit since i saw it but basically dole it shakes down like this.

1st half - main character is pretty much alone as it shows what the fuck a full scale outbreak would be like to someone that was basically under a rock while it happened. taken for what it is, it's oddly spooky.

2md half - explores what happens to the human psyche and how instilled values and rules pretty much go out the fucking window if something like this would happen. the essence of civilian order is non-existant and those that had power can now abuse it.

  3. Well to me the first half was like "this is f'ed up" and the second half was more like wheres the zombies. I mean they show up, but it wasn't as f'ed as the first half. I may have to see the movie again.

  4. Saw 28 Weeks this weekend and the shaky cam crap was indeed annoying and the whole way the virus gets loose again was just too convienent. There are some really cool scenes in the movie and the scenes of abandoned and mass chaos filled London were great. Not to mention Robert Carlyle is always a treat. Also the "zombies/infected" whatever you wanna call them seemed to be a bit more discerning or intelligent in this one.

Yo shaky cam wasn't annoying. I don't care how convenient it was that the virus got loose. Ian Malcom would be jizzing in his shorts over how everything went down but I don't care. This movie was awesome.

Awesome awesome. All I can think of now is how badly I want there to be a game of this. Please. Please. Please.

  9. if the first was an A+

    this was a B-

minus a lot of shaky cam and it would have been a lot better.

  10. first movie was pretty good. kind of went beyond the usual zombie film, as so few zombies (infected, rage carriers, whatever you want to call them) were seen compared to films like Dawn of the Dead and RE2. Second one kind of went back to that formula of endless zombies. Which is odd. Because in the first one, all of London was pretty much infected. In the second, only the Distric 1 or whatever was in London, and yet we saw far more zombies. anyways. second movie didn't live up to the first. the shaky camera was ridiculous. i laughed out loud when the girl fell down the escalator. good times.
    It's good potatoes
