There's a lot of good original gaming content on phones (particularly on FOMA) over here but it sucks to play action titles on them plus most titles do a check with the server so you have to pay the monthly fee if you decide to play it. I've downloaded the Dracula 1 remake, Gradius Neo series (you can play as a Gradius boss in one of them!), Silent Hill RPG remake, FF7: Before Crisis, Ys Gaiden, original Tales of installments...good stuff but I am tempted to wire a real controller to an old phone with A/V out.
You often see many people playing simple stuff (Solitaire, bowling, etc) while on the train but I've seen people playing FF and DQ remakes as well. What people outside of Japan don't understand is that the mobile phone here is like the PC back home. You wouldn't believe how PC illiterate most young Japanese people are. They only know email from their phone, they bid on auctions from it, surf the web, listen to music, etc. Ask them about MSN, Office, AIM....you will get blank faces.
