Nowhere near as good as Brood War but I'm sure it beats the shit out of everything else.

What is your reasoning? I played Brood War for at least five years and have always been weary about Starcraft 2.

Well, there's a lot of just plain stupid shit that you wouldn't think would work in a StarCraft setting that's kind of thrown in SC2. For example, the ground units that ignore terrain (Reaper, Colossus), the new Nydus, and the Warpgates. To be fair they're decently balanced in the context of the game.

But just in general, the current game is balanced too heavily on hard counters especially with the Roach, Marauder and Immortal. This is different from the way Brood War did things since if you could micro well enough you could turn a very unfavorable situation into a win. Marines, Medics, and Firebats against Lurkers or Vulture micro for example. Smartcasting really dumbs down spellcasting as well, since you can just press T and click a bunch of times to Psi Storm everything in sight rather than cloning off or otherwise selecting individual HTs. Also, multiple building select makes macro incredibly easy. Blizzard probably implemented the new macro mechanics (Queen, Orbital Command/addons, Chrono Boost/Warpgates) for that reason, but eh.

Basically it boils down to the fact that you could play Brood War forever and always feel like there's room for improvement, but I don't think that will be the case here. When people really learn how to play it might even just come down to pure build order wins.
