Thread: Soul Calibur 4

  1. Is there a way to physically "bring" your character to someone else's game, like copy
your character onto a flash drive and load it on someone else's system without overwriting their save? I want to download one of the full-unlock saves (dont really have the patience to get all the characters/items) but I dont want to lose my custom characters.

The ps3 shows a single save file and a single "game data" file, whcih is 18 mb.

  2. I'm digging it so far. Online works okay but again I don't get the appeal of voice chat online - so many jerks online not worth conversing with. My last match of the day was laggy though, so Guard Impacts were not a smart option.

So far I still have a soft spot for SC1. The art gallery was huge, the character designs were simple and effective, and all the characters felt different enough to be worthwhile. Character creation is now just a way to "skin" your fav fighters and even the hidden anime characters play that way. Which I guess could be good or bad, but it makes the variety in game feel cosmetic and nothing else.

Also with the Ivy video...you can air roll out of stuff like that. Have been since SC1. I don't see why a controlled training video would make anyone think the game's broken.

he actually says in the video he is trying to air recover, and can't.
look here, upon a sig graveyard.

  4. Played for a little bit, but havent tried online yet.

Story mode is a joke (4 stages? really?), and I dislike having to horde up gold to buy weapons. I'd prefer to earn them in a campaign mode. Vaders Apprentice is cheap as all fuck, and Im sure he gets spam played all day online. Graphics look pretty awesome, and the gameplay is still there - (Kilik is slower though )

Is there a way to change the difficulty of the Arcade mode? I saw options to change difficulty of the VS mode but I dont think it affects the Arcade. That and I didnt see a way to change round number on Arcade. What gives? I assume being able to increase rounds would have made the Hero on the Battlefield achievement easier to get, by why sacrifice giving the player options over a lame achievement?

  5. You can't change round number because you are competing for high score, same with difficulty. Also Killik is still fast enough.

Yeah, I even made sure to try it myself. Dude's not kidding.

Game is great and all, and the graphics impress me more each day, but I cannot help feel everything was very sloppily put together. The presentation is terrible. It's confusing how to unlock things, and it's lacking the 1-player modes that made the previous games so wonderful. Online play does not make up for that.

Oh well - I made Sophitia sexy last night. That's all that counts. Though I definitely miss some of the kicks she had in the prequels. Blah.

I took all your French Toast.

  8. Yeah, Namco really dropped the ball on everything except the core gameplay and the character creation (barring items etc being unlocked)

  9. The Tower of Souls is really the main single player experience, and I think it has enough to be sufficient. The goal is to find equipment that boosts the stats you need, and equip the skills you think will be most useful. Some skills, like Soul Gauge Vamp or HP Drain can make a huge difference, but they require a ton of specific skill points. Certain equip/skill setups can make for extremely quick Soul Crushes/Critical Finishes.

You unlock more equipment by earning achievements. At 30 achievements, you've unlocked all the default equipment for purchase. Much of the same equipment (generally the more expensive or novelty items) can be unlocked in the ToS treasure chests. The game gives you pretty good hints for the requirements, but a list is here for each chest. If you unlock a chest for equipment you've already purchased, it gives you gold instead.

New weapons are unlocked by beating story mode with a character, and purchasable in the CaS mode. Weapons have the single largest effect on your stats, and often have an imbedded skill (which is usually not useful).

Some of the later armor sets you unlock (like Gorgon, Tiger Lily, and Voodoo) are really well-modeled and generally have complimentary, strong stats. I'm not sure what leveling a style does, except give you access to higher level skills. My Cervantes style is at 9, and seems to be maxed.

Some of the rewards in the tower are either wrong or i got the rewards some othe way.
A couple of them gave me gol instead f an item. Which really pissed me off to get gold for something something like knocking down all the walls on a stage.
    This happen to anyone else??
