Thread: The Workout Thread

  1. Lol sorry Dole! <3

  2. Re: expensive running shoes

Ive worked with many clients, multiple marathon finishers, to your average couch to 5k person.

Many, many, many people just dont know how to run. Running, like anything else is a skill and one that can improve with time, practice, and the correct equipment.

Id say pretty much every one of my clients ive recommended to our local running store for gait anylasis and what not has been super happy withnthere shoes and a lot of times helped to fix or atleast partially alieve issues they mightve had (sup/pronation, kneee issues, etc).

If you are doing a decent amount of miles a week I dont see the reason not to check it out.

Note - some people are natural runners and can get by with off the shelf shoes for example. I wear nike free 3s and love them for lifting and running.

I dont like running, but Ive always been good at it. I ran a 4:13 mile in middleschool... In leather dress shoes.

  3. 4:13 was the world record 100 years ago. It's the women's world record right now.

I believe you can run, but, uh. Was your school perhaps eyeballing it?

    Your mom was eyeballing it.

Btw, I read this entire thread again last night. We all just say the same things over and over. It rules. Runkeeper also deleted all my walks I used to post, so fuck them.

  5. 4:26 maybe? I honestly dont remember, it was our school record tenish years ago last time i was at the school. 4:13 was the first number that popped into my head so I went with t.

    Below 4:30 100%.

  6. Count me as one of the people who don't know how to run. It comes from overthinking, for sure. I think "shit! stand up straight! but not too straight! forward a little! not too much! heels up! middle of the foot! crap!" and by that time i'm a mess. However, this is a practice for me to be more zen about it, so i don't mind making the mistakes i make to move forward. i love running and i'm just not very good at it, but that's okay. I'm not going to stop anytime soon unless i get seriously injured or whatever else again, so i'll just keep doing it until it works.

  7. I ran for 3 years or so. I liked it a lot but I had slight pain in my left knee. When I changed shoes they went away. It must be pretty hard to adjust.

I worked out this week even though I was sick. Not sure what the general policy is for other people so i'd be curious to know. I'm getting really in to squatting and bench presses because I have yet to fail at all.

  8. I find working out while sick causes the sickness to linger. I'm almost ever sick, but when I am, I like to retreat into shell mode and I beat it very quickly.

This is how it is for me too.
