Thread: The Workout Thread

  1. For some people, not all... losing weight is nearly as difficult for them as it is gaining it for you MVS.

Some of the people I work with keep food logs, are great about what they eat, and are in the gym three to five times a week, absolutely busting ass and are still seeing minimal changes.

Changes never-the-less, but at a slower rate than other people. When you see other people around you getting better results much quicker, and much easier, it's easy to get discouraged and fall off the wagon.

There are obviously a ton of other factors, but genetic predisposition to a certain body type can and does play a part for some people.

  2. Perhaps some of those people aren't as forthcoming when they are not at the gym.

Excuses abound--there is always a reason why--but, just like I knew better, ignored it and let myself smoke way too much (making it much tougher to quit than it should have been), generally Food > Exercize = Fat.

I'm all for people bettering themselves, just not coddling them when they dig themselves out.

Back on topic, I'm having a tough time seeing 3,000 calories a day as doable, lest I find some secret moonman food that's ultra condensed. I shall have to minimally increase intake each day, methinks.

  3. Sure there is always a possibility for cheating. But I've worked with a good number of people and I don't believe they are ALL fibbing.

If you want to supplement your caloric intake I'd suggest looking into some kind of protein/meal supplement shake.

I'd also recommend lots of milk and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

I eat anywhere from 4500-7000 calories a day, so I am very sympathetic to your plight!

  4. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I need a blender and all, given the only way I'm ever going to eat that much is to drink it.

    Meat Smoothie ftl.

  5. Be sure to get a Blendtech Blender. It'll blend Diamonds.

  6. I leave my handheld immersion blender plugged in and in the drying rack 24/7 because I use it so often.

That's the way to go IMO.

  7. I'm on day 43 today of my 90 day thing.

I took pictures on day 14 and day 42, then compared them and there is a noticable difference.

I'm really looking forward to March 1st, day 90, to see the final difference for this set.

  8. After taking a 3 months break from working out I am finally getting back into it. And coincidental timing since I decided to start around New Years, yet my decision had nothing to do with a resolution of any sort. I stopped training back in September to try and give my back a break since it has been a pattern of train for 6 months, have chronic back pain because of how weak that part of my body has gotten, and stop for a few months. I finally got fed up with it and have started with a trainer specifically for heavy duty core training, which had always been an area where my training lacked.

All I have to say is wow, I am fucking sore. The workout I got put through yesterday was really fucking intense. Zero weight bearing exercises (except these kettle ball for these squat movements), and concentrating on using my natural body weight and stabilizing muscles for the movements/exercises I am doing. And surprisingly, many of the exercises have a basis in palates which have ended up being really god damn difficult to perform. Thus far I have been extremely satisfied with the progress I have made in just 2 training sessions, and even though my lower back is sore from strengthening the muscles around it, I haven't felt this good since before the last flare up of my back in August.

Plus this has been a far better investment than the 3 terrible sessions of traditional sports medicine physical therapy that only made my back feel worse. And it will only begin to equal the price I paid for that after do 3 months of training twice a week with my trainer.

    The kids love the p90x.

    *edit*

As for what I'm working on:

I started my first week of my six week german volume training this week.

I've been doing personal and group physical training for a while now, and it's pretty awesome.

I will have a bunch of new personal/group and kettlebell training certifications shortly.

I weighed 170 this morning with 12.8% bodyfat. Still pretty clean considering I've been on a bulking diet for months. After I put on another 10-15 pounds I'll cut down to around 8% which should be pretty sweet.

  10. p90x is the shit. I'm 147 and 7, though, I look like I have significantly less body fat than before and I was 5 back then so I think my scale is fuxxored.
