    These are the exact reasons I wouldn't strictly do a dedicated crossfit program with nothing else. Like you mentioned, I am going to be mindful about how/when I incorporate it into my regiment. More as a supplementary way to get more variation into my workouts than a "CROSSFIT OR NOTHING" way of doing it.

    Basically I hate swimming now because of the mind numbingly brutal workouts we were put through for years. I swam on a team for about 8 years, competitively for about 6 until I was 18. Backstroke & fly were what I swam mainly, and in both the medley & 400 free relays. I was never an amazing individual swimmer, but good enough to get to states in relays and such.

    I really wish I had the motivation to get into a pool these days because it really is the best whole body cardio you can possibly get as far as I'm concerned. I just can't bring myself to do it.

  2. I hear ya on the boring.

    I coached for awhile and if I ever did it again, I'd cut workout waaaay down and spend more time on strength training and then doing sprint work (basically just do some HIIT in the pool) combined with drills.

    10,000 yard practices are worthless if you're not an Olympian, imo.

  5. Just picked up some yummy vanilla casein protein for before bed (Optimum Nutrition brand, which as far as I know is the only company that makes a 100% casein protein). It thickens up a lot more then Whey does, especially when you mix that shit with milk. It's like a creamy milkshake.

    Does it taste alright without adding anything to it? I can't stand the taste of their 100% Whey.

    With water I'd say it tastes pretty good, but not amazing or anything. I mean, it's perfectly fine. But with milk, it not only thickens more, but it actually crosses the line into out-and-out delicious.

    I've also tried mixing it with either vanilla soy milk or Lactaid (a lactose-free milk my gf buys), and it's pretty awesome with those as well.

    It's really the most important thing to remember, and a lot of it depends on where you train. Is it a place with a lot of douchebag juiceheads who are dicks to anyone that can't bench 350lbs, or just some hardcore guys who respect people who come there and give it their all? Your workout environment can make all the difference.

  10. I love having protein shakes with milk (and a bunch of fruit). If you do it right they really can be something you look forward too and not something you are just chugging to get it down.

    Only milk and fruit in my shakes when I'm bulking though.

    And speaking of bulking, this month's evaluation: another 2% or so bodyfat down (below 8% now) and only a couple pounds lighter, so I really think I'm close to having the cutting diet dialed in.

    I do miss weighing 175 though, that extra weight helped to push people around at the gym.
