Thread: Sony Controller...

  1. I still think the PS2 pad is the best pad on the market. Granted, I haven't used a Neo Geo pad, but I've never had complaints about Sony's stock pad.

The PS3 pad, from what I've held of it, is pretty sweet as well.
The 360, as much as I love the system, I'm lukewarm to the pad. I love everything about that pad except the bumper buttons and the d-pad, which is shit (As said before, play Pac-Man CE with it and witness it's shittyness). I shouldn't be look at fucking Madcatz alternatives to the standard pack-in pad because I want a D-pad that doesn't feel like ass.

I really wish there was a PS2-to-360 converter out there.

  2. PS3 pad's worst attribute is its shoulder triggers. They feel crap compared to other analog triggers and they're way over-sensitive. When I was playing Resistance I kept switching weapons accidentally, and during VF5 I had to disable the triggers or else execute random attacks when I was resting the controller on my lap.

  3. Well, looks like there is a PS2 to 360 adapter out there, which is also a PC Keyboard/mouse to 360 adapter as well.

It also looks like the damn thing is $90. Holy crap.

You think that will work with the Street Fighter Stick. I love it and i dont wanna spend 150 on another fighting stick.

I didn't see any reviews for the adapter, so I'm not sure. I would imagine so, as it says it works for racing wheels, guitars, dance pads, etc... so I can't imagine why it wouldn't work with an arcade stick as well.

  6. Yes that will work with a ps2 arcade stick. Most. I heard if you have a custom stick using a ps2 controller it does not work with some off brand controllers.

  7. Nintendo stole plastic, wires, flat rectangular controllers and buttons from Intellivision.

I'll just take your word for it, I'm enjoying my fantasy land of unicorns and working controllers.

On the PS it was awesome when the system launched and the Dual Shock was a fantastic update, but nothing when the PS2 launched (except for the worthless analog buttons) meant it was outdated before it came out. Trying to play racing or fighting games on that thing after the DC pad was laughable at best, and eventually we got the S-controller which just stomped it. Now they have the PS3's, which is very slowly heading in the right direction, but the triggers are facing the wrong way (somehow Sony was unable to realize why triggers have been curved a certain way by every company for three generations of consoles), the analog sticks are still too loose, and the d-pad is too much the same as the PS2 and PSP. It's a decent pad, but definately not my first choice for almost a decade now.

Every controller needs either circular or raised d-pads, pressing a diagonal should not be me pressing the surrounding controller shell. Really what we need are NGPC click-sticks (bigger ones to fit the controllers, anyway), as those are just way better than what first-parties are giving us. As long as I'm controller bitching, anyone that has an upwards curved analog stick can DIAF. Fucking cut that out, fingers are not concave.

Also, the GC's button inside the triggers was a really good idea, MS or Sony needs to steal that since the games on those systems could really benefit from that.

  9. The worst part of the DC pad was the housing on the back where you stuck the VMUs into. No matter how I held that thing it would always rub on my fingers.

The cord being on the bottom was also retarded. That cut about 6" of length right off the bat.
