Saw II is the sequel to the newest horror franchise to blow away our minds. You can without a doubt throw Saw II into the very small pile of films of sequels that are just as good or maybe even better than the original. From the oh-so-gross mind games Jigsaw plays to the twist and turns of the plot, Saw II is a must-see film for all the horror fans.
As you know, the plot involves a bunch of people thrown into a house where they're breathing in a deadly nerve gas. However, the plot picks up after all the pieces of the puzzle have been laid out, and while some parts are predictable, it doesn't ruin the movie. Although some parts could've been predicted, that didn't take away anything from the movie experience.
Let's be honest, the acting will never be superb in a horror movie. I think there is an unwritten law that states that it is illegal to have good acting in a horror movie. With that said, the acting wasn't that bad. The cast did a wonderful job not giving us the dreaded teen-like performances (although there were only 2, maybe 3 teens). The director (Darren Lynn Bousman) did a wonderful job to showing scenes from the original to make connections between both films, which really made the sequel play out better.
Twists and turns, traps and games, and blood and death, what else could you ask for? Saw II works in everyway imaginable. During the final moments, I was on the edge of my seat, and when it was all said and done, I smiled and left the theatre with a very satisfied feeling. How much blood would you shed to see this movie? You better say a lot, because it was definitely worth it.
