Thread: The Amazing Spider-Man

  1. I read an overview of Cameron's old Spidey script. It was pretty retarded, especially the scene where Spidey fucks MJ in a web on a bridge.

BTW, AICN is reporting that Raimi's script was supposed to be pretty fucking horrible as well, including Pete and MJ having a *gasp* BABY. Fuck that shit.

  3. With The Gas's birthday(which I made a thread). We have new news on Spidey the Fourth.

First, the news broke that Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst have walked from Spider-Man 4. Then Sony went ahead and officially announced a full-on reboot with sights set for a currently unspecified summer 2012 release date.
Now Entertainment Weekly has even more details on the matter. When the studio lined up screenwriter James Vanderbilt to pen Spider-Man 5 and 6, they did it so as a back-up plan. You know, just in case things fell apart with Team Raimi. AKA they smelled smoke in the kitchen and ordered take-out.

Things get even more interesting as the Vanderbilt-penned reboot is already finished and the reboot is now in pre-production(!?!) Long story short if they dick around with their option on the character, it goes back to Marvel...who is owned by the Mouse... You get the idea.

Adding more insult in injury is their intention to making this new angle on Webhead "dark & gritty." I can already hear some douchebag executive going, "Yeah, we'll do it kinda like Nolan did with Batman!" Oh for fuck's sake...

So just who would want to step into the shoes previously filled by Raimi? Their sources are suggesting a number of different names ranging from (500) Days of Summer helmer Marc Webb (My copy via Netflix comes in today as a matter of fact. Huh, small world!), Michael Bay (Isn't he tad too busy? What with Transformers 3 opening next July and all) and Gary Ross who incidentially was brought up for rewrites on the ill-fated fourquel.

Needless to say, it's going to be a very busy next couple of weeks for our friendly neighbor Spider-Man as new filmmakers and actors are lined up.

  4. I wouldn't mind seeing Spider-Man: Reign as a movie...

  5. Michael Bay? I'm pretty sure that's not happening, but if it does...oh fucking no. I'd rather have Raimi come back and do a Vulture/Kraven trilogy.

  6. It would be what the world deserves for seeing ROTF so much in theaters.

  7. Speaking of Transformers they start shooting TF 3 in May.

  8. I'll admit that I saw ROTF twice but I didn't pay a dime either time.

  9. Nobody wants a reboot. I wouldn't go and see something I already paid for this decade. Sony is just going to shit kick this thing out the door and it will suck. They don't know what's going on with these movies. Can't wait until it goes back to Marvel. It's a shame. Spiderman 1 and 2 were so good. (1 was okay, I guess. 2 was awesome) I wish they would just tank the entire thing and let it rest for the next 5 years.

When they cast Topher Grace as Venom I couldn't help but think how much better a Spidey he would make than Tobey McGuire. That guy can't act.

  10. Topher was a good pic, but the damn face time killed it. I can't remember who it was that said (here) it should have been a Venom only movie after they forced it on Raimi, but they were right. At least that would have given him a chance to make a better Sandman-centered movie the next time around.
