Thread: Avengers!

  1. The guy is burnt out, people just need to leave him alone for awhile.

I think Sam Jackson should have sat this one out.
They actually addressed this in last night's Agents of SHIELD. Apparently Fury had Coulson (and the Koenig brothers) working on something called Theta Protocal over the past year and a big part of that was building a new Helicarrier in secret. I never really thought he was on the run with no resources, he was on the run but he's Nick Fury. The guy in the comics who always had a contingency plan for when his 4th contingency plan went to shit. He burned his ID and one tiny storage locker filled with guns at the end of Winter Soldier, I really never even considered that was the sum of all his resources.

  3. They built a Helicarrier . . . in secret?!

  4. Maybe it was like the 'device' in Contact, they built a spare and kept it on ice.

    Nevermind all the other spares.

Totally ridiculous in a movie that has a guy in a flying metal suit, aliens, gods, mutants, super assassins, and other crazy shit fighting a killer super robot.

  6. And a guy with a bow!

On the way to the stock exchange

  7. It's not a new one, it's leftover from before the fall of SHIELD. Fury mentioned pulling it out of mothballs. The TV show actually tied into this - there was a big mystery for a while about something called THETA Protocol that Coulson was keeping secret from his team; turned out this week it was storage & maintenance on Fury's emergency helicarrier (overseen by multiple Patton Oswalts).

  9. After hearing about the backlash to Avengers 2 I was a bit concerned going to see it last night, but what I got was pretty close to what I was hoping for- A fun new Marvel movie. I get that Black Widow didn't do much in here, but Ultron isn't a Black Widow threat. Captain America 2, she had room to do things, but I don't see Ultron going down to spy moves and skullduggery. I didn't even mind that she had a thing for Banner, and if they'd cut the one stupid scene in the farm house it would actually have been an enjoyable sub-plot.

Fun movie. Will see again, although not for a while.

  10. I never thought Widow was a damsel in distress. She was kicking ass throughout the film and even though she was a prisoner at one point, it was her spy abilities that led the rest of the team to where Ultron was so it's not like she was a helpless girl crying in the corner.
