He's not Spielberg, he doesn't have the clout to breach a contract and still have a career. This wasn't "I refuse to do it without Downey," this was "I have every confidence they'll get him onboard, so chillax fanboys."

He's doing the Agents of Sheild show and he already has a pretty big TV resume under his belt.

He can probably pull out of Avengers 2 if someone else is signed as Iron Man and be fine, career wise. If anything it might have him more clout as someone who won't make you a movie half assed. I mean we all know RDJ is going to be in it though, so yeah its kind of a moot point.

I think it's fine -- but I don't understand RDJ's hesitation to shoot the character? It's not like he saw the script and outright said no because it was shit. These movies COMPLETELY revitalized his career. Soooo...?
