Bitch move? Hardly. It isolated Ripley again, creating tons of tension. Not only did she have an alien monster to worry about, she was surrounded by human monsters. How long do you think Newt would have lasted in that environment? Roc would have torn her apart day one.

No? That's a shame. However, I got that Mrs. Voorhees/Kid Jason set last year from NECA's online store without any problem at all, so whoever wants Newt will probably be able to get their hands on her without having to resort to Evilbay.

I like that it doubles down on the alien not being something you can really survive, ultimately. The Disney Ending from Aliens couldn't last, just as the 'Snow White in the Glass Coffin' ending from Alien didn't. Ripley had to kill herself to beat it.

Then, maybe open on the crash site and discovering everyone dead with a mystery but obvious conclusion about it, rather than the slap in the face of 'Hey, remember all those characters you liked? Ha Ha! We're going to kill them right now!"
