Okay, now I'm willing to give this a day one purchase. It looks like Contra, and hopefully it will have a soundtrack as good as III. Maybe this will turn out well enough that we're clamoring for a PS2/Wii port.

If you download the latest 1 up show they have video of this and talk about it and Shane, Parish and some other guy basically jizz all over themselves over the game and how this is finally a good sequel to contra 3.

It looks great so far. It's been awhile since a good Contra game came out. I loved Shattered Soldier, but felt underwhelmed by Neo Contra. Hopefully, Konami has chosen a good company to farm out the Contra franchise.
However, they need to change the title and rewrite the plot. Why the hell did they introduce two new character with the old American names for Bill and Lance? That's like making a new Mega Man game and giving him a sidekick named Rockman. Or having "Vermon CaTaffy" be the main villain for MGS4. The Contra canon is already confusing with the whole Jimbo and Sully crap from Contra III (not that anyone cares about the Contra canon here).

This could easily be better than shattered soldiers. The inclusion of the classic weapons really goes a long way. Spread FTW

The mention of doing what NSMB for its series in the video seems pretty accurate. This looks like it could be a great homage to '80s Contra.

Not to mention the inclusion of the weapons floating over head until you shoot them. Yeah it might not be realistic, but it is one of the things that make the damn game Contra.
