so the game isn't even out yet and he's already declared that the DS has ruined it... interesting. I wonder where he beta tests all the DS games?

You're not throwing money at Konami to be lazy, you're paying for what amounts to a lost 16 bit gem, the series golden era before it went to shit on 32 bit. It's not ridiculous like Neo Contra (I AM GUERILLA CONTRA!!!! MUHAHAHA!!!) and it has some color unlike Shattered Soldier.

Look at New Super Mario Bros, Contra 4 operates on the same reinventing principle and gets it right; in graphics, sound, and unbelievably in this day and age, challenge. The two screen gimmick even works well.

Contra 4 shows complete dignity to the series, hearing the first few notes of the title theme makes you weep for late 80's/90's gaming again. *-neo
    Well executed post sir.

I agree, though a lot of it seems like fan service, it's true to the series, and is an awesome game that washes the bitter taste of Shattered Soldier out of my mouth.

  4. I'm not a big fan of portables but without them theres no way in hell we'd get games like Contra 4, Dracula X Chronicles and New Mario Bros without them.

I really hope that's not true, but there's clearly no evidence to the contrary. I wish one big publisher would take a risk on a 2D console game. I still believe that they would be rewarded.

  6. I dont know why these games just arent published on the virtual stores. Dracula X woulda been right at home on XBLA.

I know Frogacuda's argument is that the development costs of a high res 2D game would be too high to recover through typical XBLA prices. However, Sony has had $40 games on PSN, and Nintendo said that WiiWare game prices will be up to the publishers. Steam is an option as well.

  8. Be strong, Yoshi.

So Canvas Curse would have been better suited to the Gamecube? Liberty City Stories was done better on PS2? Capcom Puzzle World and Planet Puzzle League would have been drastically better on consoles? Lumines + was better than the first?
I could go on, but I don't want to shatter your argument too bad.

I didn't say every game could be done better anywhere else. I said every game could be done better somewhere else.

Canvas Curse would be better on Wii.
Liberty City Stories would be best on PC/PS3.
Capcom Puzzle World would be best on PC/PS3/360.
Planet Puzzle League would be best on Wii.
Lumines would be best on PC/PS3/360.

You're making a stupid argument by naming ports. I'm talking about ground-up development on the right platform.
