I think you're confusing them with Obsidian.

  2. They both have the same problem, Obsidian moreso.

(BTW forum, I just found out that The Witcher is a fucking awesome Western-style PCRPG. Get that instead)

  3. The groundwork is there - a combat system that works on your reflexes is a good match for Sonic, or as much as a Sonic RPG concept can be carried. It's just extremely easy. The graphics would have fared better if it were entirely sprite-based, not bad polys on static painted backgrounds. The soundtrack in general needs some serious work.

They also kept this bizarre setting in which humans occupy the same world as Sonic and his friends, and act like it's no big deal. It just DOESN'T. WORK.
Try as they might to weave a serious tale around anthropomorphic Hedgehogs, Foxes, and Bats, you just can't take a lick of it seriously. If Bioware took a few liberties with the concept/story it would have been much better. Seeing what they did with Star War's lore, something tells me Sega had a few requirements that they just couldn't work around.

You mean like Sonic and Robotnik? Both in the same world?

  6. Robotnik occupied the same realm as the original characters. He was human if you really wanted to say so, but he's just as misshapen and bizarre as the rest of the characters.

I'm talking about full-fledged cities of normal, run of the mill people who go about their business and act exactly like they would in our modern world, except they recognize and interact with a blue hedgehog that runs faster than the speed of sound. This is a marked difference from say, Sonic 1-3+knuckles. I was perfectly content with the idea that Robotnik was the only human-like thing around, and that he built robots and shit.

I'll just go ahead and say that Sonic's world has always been underdeveloped. Early games had Sonic running the gamut of settings and coming up against Robotnik like they were the only living creatures on earth. Trying to develop that further was the mistake from the beginning, and all that shit started with Sonic Adventure.

  7. IMO

I always assumed there were people in Sonic's world, but you're right that Sonic and friends are treated as commonplace, but you don't see any towns of furries. It's almost like the people can't see that they aren't human.

  9. Oh fuck, I remember that series! That's a show I always thought was related to Sonic X lol. Awesome.

  10. Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog was great. When I was 11, at least. I doubt it holds up, but it was good for what it was.

    EDIT: I meant SatAM. D'oh
