Thread: Sid Meier's Civilization: Revolution

  1. This game is awesome, but there are a few problems.

    1) It crashes, to the point of locking up the PS3, and the crashes are repeatable. If you just got a great person, and you are cycling through your units, don't ever hit Triangle right away. Bad times.

    2) There have been at least 2 updates, though I have no idea what they did or fixed. 2K's forum seems to have some info.

    3) Game of the Week. I understand why you can't save the game, since they rank them, someone could abuse that, but at the same time it's kinda shitty when you are 2 hours into a Diety match, your internet blinks and you lose all progress.

    4) Sometimes, an entire city's buildings will be destroyed--not by a spy or anything like that, one turn they are there and the other, they are gone. It seems to happen when you eliminate an AI from the game, though the missing buildings are not limited to cities that they founded.

Otherwise, times are good. If anyone is trying to win Diety with each Civ, if you get it to the point where you have one enemy left, save it, win with 1 of the 4 methods, at main menu, reload and win with another one.

  2. Wow, the ps3 version sounds increadibly buggy, the 360 one doesn't have any of that shit.

  3. You have no idea. It just crashed again, as per #1. To avoid it, make sure:

If you just got a great person at the beginning of your turn, don't get in the habit of pressing Triangle right away, like you would to form an army. Which sucks, because late in the game that's a habit of mine and you have no idea if you are about to hit that triangle on a great person, until it's too late. If you do it, it starts to load the Civlopedia and locks up on the loading screen. You have to physically restart the PS3.

Yeah, that's weird. Haven't experienced any of that on 360.

I really wish the maps were larger though. I played a full game and got rather bored with the smallish world and limited civilizations. Great game, but I might trade this in.

  5. Agreed. They say it's to keep things quicker, but I think the most glaring omission is some type of options to the game. Beyond Audio/etc, there aren't any. I know they can't do PC Civ 4 levels of options (map size, opponenets, barbarians, espionage, etc), but something should have been there.

Now would be the time to trade it in, it's apparently tough to find due to not printing enough.

  6. MVS does the PS3 version support mouse and keyboard?

I've had it lock up on me once on the 360. Other than that, I've played at least 5 campaigns to completion. My only gripes are that diplomacy options are pretty much a joke and I wish the maps were bigger. Awesome game though.

Haven't tried. It would be great if it did, cycling through units takes forever and a day sometimes.

I can't even find any diplomacy options.

I know the computer always says "Give me this or else", to which the reply is always a "Fuck you, bitch.", but I can't seem to do that to them. It's only available if you are actually at war with them, and, even then, give the computer some credit, they will continue to make demands when you have them hopelessly surrounded.

  10. I think they vary by difficulty level. On the 360 it's the RB.
