Thread: Sony's $99 Waggle-Wall PS2 to Compete with Wii

  1. yeah, like this and like that and like this and uh.

  2. If this is true it's just what the game industry needs, more gimmicks and fads.

  3. The game industry is based on gimmicks and fads, where have you been?

  4. Sony is killing itself; Sega made the mistake of trying to actively support 2 consoles at once and look how that turned out...

  5. Guess we will see a Wii price drop.

Sony also supported the PSone for quite a few years after the PS2 was released, and that seemed to pan out pretty well.
Why would Sony stop supporting their most popular system, especially with the PS3 being so expensive? That would be suicide.

And on the note of the Xbox, MS completely dropped that system entirely too early.

Sony didn't release new PS1 accessories to compete with Xbox and GameCube, plus the PS2 was backwards compatible so PS1 releases were essentially PS2 releases (you didn't need a special PS1 bundle to play them).

  8. If this comes to fruition, I don't see how MS can be a greater evil when it comes to videogames.

Because I'm pretty sure they aren't going to do this garbage.

If they were smart they would. The Wii isn't a system. It's shouldn't have the dignity of a real platform. It's a last-gen system with a new controller. If MS and Sony released equivelent controllers, you'd have a market that could support the 3 and a half games a year that merit the controller, without having to give up on the hundred that don't.

  10. While I agree with you, I would have an instant respect bonus for the company that said, "You know what? Waggle can make us money in the short term, but we think it's garbage."

OK, Sony and MS. The race is on
