Thread: If We Give Other Games the Contra 4 Treatment

  1. There are games where having the action spread across two screens has ruined the gameplay (Yoshi Island DS), then other games where it worked great (Sonic Rush). I think it's really more of a fault of the developers when trying to use the two screens fucks things up rather than the actual system. Each of these developers know/knew what they are getting into when they start developing a game for the DS. Just like you wouldn't want to push the PS2 to the point that it starts slowing down and running like shit, you shouldn't try and use both screens where it's going to effect the gameplay.

  2. A problem I've never noticed in playing Yoshi's Island DS (amid that game's list of problems). The break that Frog mentioned for Sonic Rush seems at play in Contra as well, like the water stage where one screen will be your bike, the other being a view of the enemies underwater.

    So no, you don't have a point. *-neo

    No, it's exactly the same. Look at the Contra gif he posted. The player dies because a "censored" enemy in the black bar area throws a grenade at him.

    Yeah, I noticed that. I also noticed the grenade several seconds before in the top screen.

    The bar is a handicap. You can't really call it anything else.

  10. Yoshi DS wasn't as bad as alot of people made it out to be. Contra's gap seems to be a much bigger problem. When I watched the videos on it, I was wondering why no one really mentioned it. Put it on a console already please.
