That's a pretty gay-sounding game. You can keep it.

The characters were complex and interesting to me in so much as their backgrounds, Koudelka in particular. Did you finish the game, Jetman? The CG segments get better and better as the game goes on. In fact that's one of the few things even the detractors agree the game did really well, so I'm not sure where you're coming from there.
I played through 2 discs and just couldnt take it anymore, and I usually give a lot of 'shit' games a chance. I think I vented too much already about the game in the Shadow Hearts thread we had a while back, so Ill stop here. One of my coworkers had convinced me to play it because it was the pseudo prequel to Shadow Hearts, and I regret listening to him. Maybe (thats a really big maybe) I wouldnt have come down so hard on it if, Id played it sooner, like right when it came out, but I doubt it.

  3. Well, you're definitely in the majority with your dislike. I had read a lot of negative press, and so I wasn't expecting much (only buying it and playing it to "get to" Shadow Hearts), and then was quite pleasantly surprised, and ended up enjoying it far more than SH.

This is exactly me too. I wanted to start off that series with a little background and I guess the main girl in Koudelka is a mystery narrator and omg surprise character in Shadow Hearts or something so I figured 'win win' situation. I felt like it was a 'lose lose' after a couple of hours though. The worst part about this is, I havent convinced myself to go back and play any of the Shadow Hearts games because of this, and I hate Koudelka for that. My coworker loves Shadow Hearts like it was his left nut, so he feels bad about telling me to try Koudelka, (and he should). To each his own though. I like some 'horrible' games myself. Castlevania: Curse of Darkness comes to mind. Im inexplicably a whore for anything Castlevania, but this pic Mzo posted always makes me feel bummed about the game:

  5. That pic made me laugh. I'm not the biggest fan of CoD, but I did so love LoI, and I know it's me against the world with that one.

Also, regarding Koudelka -- I tried to add this to my last post, but my connection went down: There's a touching scene near the end where Koudelka gets drunk, sits on the floor with Edward in front of a fire, and opens up about her past. It was fairly drawn out as these things go, and I found it to be quite humanizing and endearing with respect to Koudelka's character. Also, discovering more about the old, ostensibly gracious, couple that helps you out in the beginning, as well as the history behind the monastery in general, was interesting to me. The final boss and choice of endings -- the one that leads to Shadow Hearts being your defeat if I recall correctly -- was cool, as well.

  6. That game is definitely for not everyone, and average at heart. But i enjoyed it for the story, characters and i even thought the battle system, and breakable weapons was a neat touch. I also bought it together with SH, and played it first, though i enjoyed SH more.

We had a discussion about it few years ago around this parts.

  7. I never had the patience to see any of those scenes you mentioned Compass, maybe thats my fault, maybe the games.

Im too stubborn to ever concede that its anything but a crappy game, but if it makes you feel any better, I gave you ammo so you can post the picture of the gay circus ring leader above to put me back in my place when it comes to differing opinions in the realm of gaming.

  8. AND I WILL USE THIS AMMO BLV YOU ME.

  9. On another note, Korians mastar plan worked and this discussion likely caused all of his copies of Koudelka to be sold.....to Dolemite.

I did no such thing, it's your own fault for being OCD about the order you play games in
