It would be brilliant if it was Lovecraft. Then the shaky cam is perfect for any of the monsters in the film, because it's better to not see anything Lovecraftian clearly.

Very intriguing. Abrams has a firm grip on that all too elusive "cool" factor. His stuff doesn't pander, and turn all cheesy. One reason Lost is as great as it is. Hopefully the acting in the trailer isn't indicative of the full film:
