Gotta love cyberpunk stuff! Shadowrun, FF7-8, all that futuristic, apocolyptic stuff is very interesting.

Well, There are few themes in games that I like:
Ancient Japan theme: With Samurai, Ninja, Old Japan setting, that is represented well in games like, Onimusha 1&2, Tenchu series, Way of the Samurai and others.
Dark and Gothic themes: Usually with horror overtones, can be found in games like Castlevania series, Shadow Hearts, Koudelka, DMC(sure it had more action than horror, but the setting is Gothic), Alone in the Dark New Nightmare and others
Horror and Bizzare themes: Silent Hill 1&2 take a leading spot here with some truly bizzare sequences ever found in video game. Fatal Frame is also a great example of scary game.
Zombie theme: RE series is truly a king here
Action and Spy theme: With MGS series and Syphon Filter being a primary examples.
I LOVE pirates! I even made my own pirate class in Morrowind, because i figured i'd be able to get a boat and sail around the coast. But i can't![]()
I'm hoping that Sea Dogs II game bethesda is making is Morrowind with pirates!
I like whatever theme Twisted Metal: Black covered. I guess dark, gloomy, and psychotic?![]()
i think one of them is grandia, but i don't know the other one. the only other game i can think of with norse myth in it is valkyrie profile, but that's not a series (to my knowledge).Originally posted by Captain Vegetable
I think Norse mythology needs to be tapped a bit more often. A single game based on it a two other series that use the word Yggdrasil just don't cut it.
P.S. Can anyone name those two series?
I'd like to see more turn-of-the-century era fantasy/sci-fi steampunk stuff like Sakura Taisen, Progear no Arashi, or Skygunner.
I think Valkyrie Profile is the game you mean, but Tales of Phantasia is pretty heavily based on Norse Mythology, though it's a looser interpretation than VP. Still it borrows from it ALOT (and has the Yggdrasil in it)Originally posted by Captain Vegetable
