Thread: Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure

  1. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure

    Source: Moviehole

Although I haven’t seen either movie in years, I’d be lying if I said Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted Theodore Logan weren’t major heroes of mine growing up. These movies were the funniest thing in the world when I was 11 or 12, and they’ll always hold a special place in my heart. Now it looks like the characters are being dragged back out by MGM and 360 Pictures for a new Bill and Ted sequel that’s actually more of a remake.

Unfortunately, neither Alex Winter nor Keanu Reeves will be reprising their roles, which leads me to ask… what’s the point??? I certainly wouldn’t expect Keanu to be interested in another Bill and Ted movie, but reports indicate that he was surprisingly eager to do it (as was Winter).

Supposedly Reeves’ agent was the one who put the kibosh on his involvement, fearing it would ruin his career. Maybe that’s just an easy excuse for Keanu, but I do respect the guy for showing interest in the project.

“You know, I’ve always thought we should do it when we’re 40, because those two at 40 would be funny… He [Winter] and I have spoken about it. But you know what, we don’t own the material, so it’s not up to us. We just play the parts, man. But it would be funny to see them, fat and 40, singing in an airport hotel lounge.”

So anyway, now we’re left with what will probably be yet another embarrassing direct to video sequel that no one wants to see. The movie is written by Gabe Grifoni and Suzanne Francis (Wieners) and produced by Frank Mancuso Jr.

No word on who would play Bill and Ted in this version.

Why? I mean, really. Nothing will be able to touch the original, and to a lesser degree the sequel.

  2. I loved the originals, fuck you to to remake.

  3. Totally unneccessary. I get why they would remake King Kong, and things that... you know, stand to gain something, but Bill and Ted hasn't aged much at all. It's still a fantastic movie. This is pointless.

  4. Kinda like the "Dumb and Dumber-er" effect. It sucks and nobody cares.

Keanu's idea actually sounds pretty cool.

  6. When looking at the main page I was so excited to see a Bill and Ted thread. I should have known it would involve a shitty remake

  7. Yeah. I would see that. $40 mil + hot talent* or no dice.

*Reeves/Winters, Judd Apatow would be good

  8. The biggest insult to it that I forgot to mention is that it's rumored to be DTV.

  9. This is totally non, non, non, non heinous dude.

That's really the only way a sequel could be any good at all IMO.
