You're so naive.
It's more like the truthers give play to him, because they perceive him as a politician they can trust. Fox News are the ones who keep trying to push the 911 thing, twisting some of what he has said a bit. What they leave out is that he has stated that he does not believe that 911 was an "inside job", and that a true independent investigation should have been done.
They're probably like my parents who are corporate-media literate. My father thinks he has no support because the "local" paper and major networks mention him very little or belittle him when they do. There are exceptions, notably a few people at MSNBC.
The support Ron Paul has side-steps the money and agenda-driven networks by utilizing the internet. He has over 700 meetup.com groups in the US and even other countries - far more than any other candidate has period.
I explain to my father that he is frequently a top Google search term, beating out Paris Hilton. That he has the most YouTube subscriptions. That he had garnered the most donations from people in the military last quarter. That he has won and placed top 3 in a bunch of recent state straw polls. That those same crappy networks frequently LEAVE HIM OFF the straw poll results, as if he doesn't even exist. That he polls low in the "major" election polls because he often isn't given as a choice. That he regularly wins online / txt polls, like the Fox poll last Wednesday where he got 33% out of 8 candidates. Hannity said people were just re-voting every second, even though only one vote per phone was allowed.
Lots of people care. Wake them up yourself, this is the candidate people have been asking for. They only need to hear the freedom message themselves, and then they are joining the meetup groups and spreading the word. I met Dr. Paul at a Republican BBQ in NH, and over half the place was there to see and support him. His signs were everywhere, there was a plane flying around with a banner, the stodgy old Repubs hated it too - they know there time is up. And this isn't Mitt Romney-style paid-for support. The People are doing it themselves, not the campaign. No amount of money can buy this grassroots type of support and Ron Paul is getting support from people of all ages and types, and all political affiliations.

Now I'm off to an area fair where we'll expose over 100,000 people to Ron Paul. We've got projected video, literature, dvd's, pens, stickers, buttons, and supporters from half of the state helping out. Our meetup group is going to grow again after these 4 days that's for sure.

Sorry SoK but that's the wrong attitude to take here.
Is he going to be successful? Probably not, but he's at least doing the right thing.
Agreed. I wish more people were as passionate about a canidate as sphere. The more people we have paying attention is the better for democracy.

Yup, if everyone got as involved in the democratic process as Sphere we'd have a better country. If you don't like Ron Paul get involved in someone else's campaign (I'm still a Rudy guy).
The white supremacist / separatist movement really has embraced Ron Paul, to his detriment I think. He doesn't want to be associated with criminals and frauds like the Minutemen or other anti-immigrant groups. They're a sinking stone and will drag under any politician that foolishly latches onto them for temporary gains.
Time for a change
