Thread: Fire Pro Wrestling Returns Coming to North America and Europe

  1. CRITICAL

I would give up all the beautiful ponies in the multiverse to get this on XBLA.

If they gimp this game, no deal. I already have the japanese version. If they make it essentially impossible to create WWE/ECW/TNA guys (like, gimping the customization options because THQ says so) then I won't need it. There's already a translated version of the Japanese release available.

Kudos for Agetec working with FPC.

Does this one have the MMA guys in it like the other games?
Yeah, it's still got MMA guys on the roster, although the rise in popularity of MMA since that second GBA game, I expect that anyone who's in this game and has a contract with a major MMA group will have to have their colors altered as well. Since Spike moved to a 12-sided cage instead of an 8-sided one, there's a good chance that will be retained in this NA/Euro version.

  3. I've never seen or played a FPW game before, but I've heard of them often enough. Watching the videos, I at first thought it looked really jerky, but the more I watched the more I appreciated the variety in animations and it's odd style. It's hard to tell from the youtube videos, but is the game strictly sprite based? I'm guessing so, which makes all the animation even more impressive.

This would be an amazing XBLA game, but all I caught was that it was approved by SCEA, so I'm guessing PS2 or PSP.

  4. Yeah, it's all sprite based.

  5. It is unbelievably deep. I never fully grasp the system and the CPU is brutal. I need to dig up the GBA game now that we are talking about it. It is a great game.

I got to the point where I could beat the cpu at the highest difficulty level, not sure if that is impressive or not.

The cpu can be a jerk sometimes, especially when the guys "lock up" and you have to hit the button as fast as you can to overpower the guy. Above level 3 or so I think I could never beat them, I'd just let 'em win.

I never was able to get into the DC version as much because the timing was a bit different.

I had a lot of trouble with the DC game too, then I decided to tackle the victory road one night and ended up getting used to it. It's still really tough in the higher difficulty levels though, and it's impossible to win the all-too-frequent test of strengths at that level, too.

There is exactly ZERO button mashing in Firepro. That's why you lose. Hold the face buttons and spin the d pad to win a lock up.
